I am the oldest of the Rix girls and grew up in Garden City, New York. I graduated from Garden City High School in 2011 where I played Field Hockey, Basketball and Lacrosse.

I went to Boston College and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Finance with a Minor in Theology. While at BC I played lacrosse for 4 years under Acacia Walker and have to say I drank the BC Kool-Aid. I am an Eagle for Life.

After graduation I took my career to Wall Street at Morgan Stanley where I work as a Trader on the Municipal Bond Desk. At the firm I am on the Fixed Income Philanthropy board, Co-Head of the Morgan Stanley/ East Side Community High School Volunteer Program and recently ran our first ever Municipal Desk Virtual Summer Analyst Rotation Program.

I am still intimately involved in the lacrosse community as a board member for Tradition Lacrosse, an Assistant Coach for Ireland Lacrosse’s U-19 National Team and Elite Team and a Co-Captain for the New York Athletic Club Women’s Lacrosse Team. I just can’t hang up the cleats!

I live in Long Beach, New York with my boyfriend Chris. In my free time I enjoy baking, cooking, playing golf, going to the beach, running, reading, traveling and I am currently an avid Peloton user.

Although the reason behind this fight is to share my cancer journey I choose to not let cancer define me. The '‘Game” was long but I have won and will continue to live life with a smile and good vibes only.

Hello hello! Marguerite here! I am the middle Rix sister and like my sisters I was born and raised on Long Island, but unlike them I did not come out of the womb with a lacrosse stick in my hand. After a 5 year journey in North Carolina for college and work, I moved back up to New York in 2017 and currently reside in Long Beach.

Growing up, I always had a passion for working with children which led me to attend Elon University in North Carolina. There I double majored in Elementary and Special Education and eventually moved to Charlotte, NC in 2016 after graduation. In Charlotte, I taught Kindergarten at a Title I school. After working at the school for a year and a half a job opportunity back in NY fell into my lap that I couldn’t pass up.

On a whim, I moved back home and started working for a start-up company I was familiar with from college. This all ended up being a blessing in disguise because less than a year later in 2018 I was diagnosed with Stage 1 Ovarian Cancer. Needless to say, this wasn’t part of my plans at 23 years old.

2018 was an interesting year filled with surgery, egg freezing, chemotherapy, a lot of support, and eventually recovery. My younger sister and I joked that 2019 was going to be OUR year, but then Mikaela was diagnosed with breast cancer so that plan went out the window. So 2020 rolled around and we said it again, it was going to be OUR year. Then COVID hit. So now we’re no longer jinxing the universe and just hope tomorrow is a good day.

While cancer threw my life off path it also motivated me to focus on my goals. While undergoing treatment I worked remotely full-time, studied for the GRE, and applied to grad school. Getting diagnosed eventually led me to a new path. Over the past 4 years, I became a Pure Barre instructor, moved to Long Beach, got my Masters in School Counseling, and currently work at a middle school on Long Island as a school counselor.

Getting diagnosed with cancer is not something I would wish on anyone but I know that my fight with cancer helped shape me into the strong woman I am today. And that woman can most likely be found sitting in a beach chair reading a good book!

I am the youngest of the Rix girls and grew up in Garden City, New York. I graduated from the Garden City High School in 2015, where I played both Field Hockey and Lacrosse over the four years.

I went to Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD where I graduated with a Bachelors’ degree in International Studies and a minor in Entrepreneurship & Management. At Hopkins, I was a member of the Women’s Lacrosse team for four years that was led by Janine Tucker. Right before the start of my Senior year, Marguerite was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer. Luckily (if you choose to look at the bright side of things), a knee surgery in the fall left me ineligible to participate in our Fall Ball season. As a result, I was able to travel to and from Baltimore to Long Island to be there for a majority of Marguerite’s treatments.

After graduation, following two summers of internships, I started my career on Wall Street at Morgan Stanley. I work on the Cash-Sales Trading desk in the Institutional Equities Division, just 3 floors above Mikaela. Prior to my starting at MS, Mikaela was diagnosed with Breast cancer. This time around, Mikaela and I were fortunate enough to be in the same city, so I was able to be there for her during her treatments and save some money on Amtrak’s!

I live in New York City , and have been here over the course of the pandemic and can proudly say that the city is most certainly alive again! When I am not at the office, I like to spend my time at the beach, playing golf, going for a run, reading or trying out a new restaurant in the city. Traveling is another hobby of mine and I certainly intend on rescheduling all of my pre-pandemic trips for the post-pandemic world!

I have learned several things watching Mikaela and Marguerite fight for their lives. Perhaps the most important being that cancer does not merely affect the person that is diagnosed. It impacts everyone; from family and friends to old teammates and classmates, who have all jumped at the chance to help. There is an unbelievable strength in numbers and no one can, nor should have to go through that battle alone.
